L’incubo dei crociati ha un solo nome: Reggiana. In ogni girone, da anni, il Parma si ritrova a combattere in campo con la sua storica (e futura) rivale, uscendone quasi sempre sconfitto e lasciando ai granata il primo ambito posto in classifica. Una vera e propria maledizione che, purtroppo, si ripete anche nella stagione ‘39-‘40.
Da notare però il miglioramento tecnico dei crociati che scalano la propria posizione in classifica, piazzandosi al quarto posto, alle spalle di Mantova e Cremonese. In Coppa Italia la squadra ducale vince contro Cremonese e Pavese, prima di essere eliminata dal Varese.
